Going – by Guest Blogger Robert H. Hooper

Today, looking up at the sky,
I saw hundreds and hundreds of noisy blackbirds, maybe thousands, going by.
All going somewhere,
Where they go
I do not know…
But somewhere

I equate them with the comings and goings of thoughts in my head,
Hundreds and hundreds,
Maybe thousands
Where they go
I do not know…
But somewhere

May they go in peace. ~

What a beautiful accurate analogy! They say most humans experience an average of 70,000 thoughts a day. This is why aspiring to adopt the Buddhist intent during meditation of “making the mind empty” is such a daunting task! We are each up against how impeccably the human brain actually functions. What to do? During meditation; let the thoughts just pass on by. Exactly as you did with the huge flock of birds. Beautiful analogy with the birds, Robert!
