Circles of Life

There have been many recent signs and sightings of the wildlife we live with here in the woods of Northwest Louisiana.

Quite often memories come back to me and these photos tell the story of this one.

One day we discovered a mother turtle laying eggs in our back yard. I was fortunate to catch a photo of the happy time (I doubt she was thrilled) and of course we felt mildly grandparental.

Just a few short weeks later, something moving in the backyard caught my eye. Imagine my despair to see a king snake full of lumps and coming up out of the tutrle egg nest.

The circles, or ovals in this instance, will always exist. Sometimes the gift to observe has to satisfaction enough.
